Albums of 2007
Top 10 Albums
1. Paramore Riot!
Basically the best album ever. I mean, it got them nominated for a Grammy, doesn't that say enough?
2. Motion City Soundtrack Even If It Kills Me
If you've heard this CD then there's no reason for me to have to give you a blurb.
3. Meg and Dia If You're Poor Find Something to Sue Somebody For EP
I actually don't even own this EP but I really needed to put Meg & Dia on this list.
4. Cobra Starship iViva La Cobra!
Completely worth it, even just for "The Ballad of Big Poppa and Diamond Girl," "The City is at War" and "Kiss My Sass." More importantly it gave the world this video.
5. Across the Universe Soundtrack
Updated Beatles with Evan Rachel Wood? Hmm... perfect.
6. Envy on the Coast Lucy Gray
It wouldn't be unheard of to listen to this CD and think it was a comp or a split because frankly Envy is the only band I've encountered that can mix post-hardcore, emo, and Queen so well.
7. Eisley Combinations
Otherworldly.
8. Jonas Brothers Self Titled
TOO POPPY OH MY GOD
9. Forever the Sickest Kids Television Off, Party On Ep
I have no idea where FTSK came from but suddenly they were everywhere and dear lord it was for a good reason.
10. Fall Out Boy Infinity on High
Sentimental value. As an album (not a FOB album) this is a serious piece of art.
Top 10 Disappointing Albums
1. All Time Low So Wrong, It's Right
I love All Time Low. The EPs were amazing, I love them live. But I was really expecting everything to pop like Dear Maria or The Party Scene. Mediocrity disappoints me most, I think.
2. The Academy Is... Santi
Again, mediocrity. Definitely some standouts ("Neighbors," "We've Got a Big Mess on Our Hands") but there were also definitely some songs that just needed to end ("Everything We Had" comes to mind).
3. The Early November The Mother, The Mechanic, and the Path
After waiting several years for this triple disc, their last release, I don't even know if I listened to it all the way through. Oh well.
4. Armor For Sleep Smile For Them
It's been all downhill for Armor since Dream To Make Believe, in my opinion. I think they're better off with their run-of-the-mill safetyemo than the emo-rock they're currently spawning.
5. Straylight Run The Needles The Space
I should have seen this coming after their Prepare to Be Wrong EP but I was still hoping for something more like their self titled. I can't really explain it though...
6. The Almost Southern Weather
This CD just has nothing in common with their live show.
7. Kanye West Graduation
I'm bored.
8. Radiohead In Rainbows
Good thing I only paid 2 pounds for this.
9. Say Anything In Defense of The Genre
I don't actually like Say Anything that much aside from the occasional "Little Girls" or "Belt," but I needed something to fill this slot.
10. Fall Out Boy Infinity on High
"But wait, wasn't this on your favorite albums list too?" Yes, as an album it's fantastic. But as a Fall Out Boy album it totally underwhelms me because it's not aggressive, it's way too artsy, and polished beyond comprehension. I'm pretty positive I was over it in like a week.
